GUNT would like to introduce two new geothermal units. The ET 264 Geothermal energy with two-well system and The ET 262 Geothermal probe with heat pipe principle.

ET 264 Geothermal energy with two-well system

ET 264 demonstrates the operation of a two well system. The core element is a sand bed with water flowing through it, with a conveyor well and an absorption well.

The learning contents include the following focal points:

  • Fundamentals of geothermal utilisation
  • Operating behaviour of a two well system
  • hydraulic and thermal properties of the soil
  • Determination of the usable heat output
  • Fundamentals and energy balance of a heat pump

The ET 262 Geothermal probe with heat pipe principle

In near-surface geothermal energy, the thermal energy stored beneath the earth’s surface is used for heating purposes.
The transparent experimental setup provides insight into the closed circuit of heat transfer and offers the following learning contents/exercises:

  • Fundamentals of geothermal energy
  • Operating behaviour of a geothermal probe with the heatpipe principle
  • Determination of the dissipable heat quantity of the heat pipe with a variation of the thermal load
  • Variation of the filling quantity of the contained heat transfer medium
  • Investigation of the radial temperature profile in a sand sample and determination of thermal conductivity
  • Determination of the thermal conductivity of sand by thermal response test
  • Fundamentals and energy balance of a heat pump
